We went to the Great Barrier Reef in Port Douglas and we went to a semi-submarine. The part where you can seat is under water so you can see all the different fish and corals there are and that is when I saw a parrot fish!
Parrot fish is called like that because they have teeth that make them look like they have a parrot beak. They use their teeth to scrape the algae on top of coral which is good because it stops the algae covering the corals too much and they also sometimes eat pieces of the coral and that is really good because when they poo, really nice pure soft white sand comes out and it is so good for nature. Their teeth get damaged but they keep on growing all their lives.
The parrot fish have beautiful colours and patterns that change depending if they are young or old or if they decide to be a female or a male.

It was really interesting learning about the parrot fish and the different colours that they have and learning that they make lovely soft smooth beaches.
Love, capucine x
